Friends of John Muir’s Birthplace is the new name for Dunbar’s John Muir Association. DJMA was formed in 1994 with the aim of promoting the life and work of John Muir in Dunbar and beyond. The Association successfully campaigned for the development of a centre celebrating Muir’s vision and influence on world conservation. It is a partner in the John Muir Birthplace Trust alongside East Lothian Council, Dunbar Community Council and the John Muir Trust. Friends support John Muir’s Birthplace with a variety of events, activities and fundraising.

Friends aim to highlight and debate some of the environmental challenges facing us today including:- Biodiversity Pollution Climate Change Deforestation Resource Depletion Quality Of Life.

We have Talks and lectures, Wildlife trips, Conservation work, Publications, John Muir Awards, Family fun events, Discussions.

Membership supports the work of the John Muir Birthplace by helping to fund its activities and the preparation of resource material. There are regular newsletters to keep Friend up to date with all that is going on.
